It acts as a single consolidated statement showing all the taxes paid or credited on your behalf, including TDS (Tax Deducted at Source), TCS (Tax Collected at Source), Advance Tax, Self-Assessment Tax, and Tax Refunds.
The main purpose of Form 26AS is to:
Ensure that the tax deducted by employers or payers has been deposited correctly with the government.
Help taxpayers verify TDS/TCS credits before filing their Income Tax Return (ITR).
Provide transparency and accuracy in tax reporting.

Form 26AS contains the following details:
Personal Details:
PAN, Name, and Address of the taxpayer.
Tax Deducted at Source (TDS):
TDS deducted by your employer, bank, or other entities on income such as salary, interest, or rent.
Tax Collected at Source (TCS):
TCS details on transactions like sale of goods, motor vehicles, etc.
Advance Tax / Self-Assessment Tax:
Details of taxes paid directly by the taxpayer during the year.
Refunds:
Information about refunds issued by the Income Tax Department.
High-Value Transactions (AIR/SFT):
Reported by banks, mutual funds, or registrars for transactions above the prescribed threshold (e.g., large deposits, property purchase).
Regular Assessment Tax:
Any tax demand or payment made after an assessment or rectification.

➡ Step 1: Visit Govt Site.
➡ Step 2: Log in using your PAN (User ID) and Password.
➡ Step 3: Click on “e-File” → “Income Tax Forms” → “View Form 26AS.”
➡ Step 4: You will be redirected to the TRACES portal.
➡ Step 5: Choose the Assessment Year and “View / Download as PDF or HTML.”
➡ Step 6: Verify all TDS, TCS, Advance Tax, and Refund details.
