The Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB) Scholarship Claim, initiated by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, is a welfare scheme designed to provide financial assistance for education to the wards and widows of Ex-Servicemen (ESM). This grant aims to encourage and support higher education, skill development, and academic growth among the families of those who have served the nation in the Armed Forces.
The prime objective of the Scholarship Claim Scheme is to ensure that the children and widows of Ex-Servicemen, who have rendered invaluable service to the country, are not deprived of educational opportunities due to financial hardship. Through this assistance, the Government seeks to empower the dependents of ESM to pursue their desired courses and contribute meaningfully to society.
The scholarship is available for:
Wards of Ex-Servicemen (ESM) — including those of deceased personnel.
Widows of Ex-Servicemen pursuing higher education.
Applicants must be enrolled in a recognized government or private institution in India.
To be eligible for the KSB Scholarship Claim:
The applicant must be a dependent or widow of an Ex-Serviceman.
The student must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in the previous academic year.
The course must be recognized by a government authority (School, College, University, or Technical Institute).
Only one scholarship per academic year is admissible for each eligible candidate.
The scholarship amount is determined according to the course level:
School-level (Class IX–XII): ₹6,000 per year
Undergraduate Courses: ₹12,000–₹18,000 per year
Professional/Technical Courses: ₹24,000–₹30,000 per year
The amount is credited directly to the applicant’s bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Applicants must attach the following documents while submitting the claim form:
Copy of Service/Discharge Book of the Ex-Serviceman
Bonafide Certificate from the institution
Marksheet of the previous academic year
Bank Passbook (first page copy)
Aadhaar Card / ID proof
Affidavit or declaration (if required by ZSB/RSB)
The applicant must fill out the “Application for Scholarship Claim” form completely and accurately.
Submit the form along with the required documents to the concerned Zila Sainik Board (ZSB) or Rajya Sainik Board (RSB).
The ZSB/RSB verifies the documents and forwards the claim to the Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB) for approval.
Once approved, the scholarship amount is credited directly to the applicant’s account.
Incomplete or incorrect forms may be rejected.
Renewal of scholarship requires submission of fresh application each academic year.
